Dry Jan... Pfft....

Make The Most Of This January!

With January being such a slow month for most, we all have to do what we can to keep the footfall flowing and help those participating in dry January to see the error of their ways! Here are 3 reasons why it's not a good idea to stay away from a tasty tipple this January...

  1. For a heavy drinker, a month without the bottle will have no impact on liver disease which develops over roughly a 30 year. If you drink more modestly, then your liver only needs a few days to get back to normal. So it’s actually better to have two or three alcohol-free days a week. All doctors will recommend giving your liver a break on a regular basis all year round rather than taking a month out of binge drinking.

  2. You’re likely to drink more at the end. There’s no point in a dry month just to hit the bottle with a vengeance on 1 February and keep boozing for the rest of the year. But as you're feeling all cleansed & energised after the dry month, statistics show that’s exactly what you’re likely to do.

  3. There’s no proof at all that it does you any good. While not drinking for a whole month won’t really do you any harm, there isn’t much to go on to show that it has any benefits. Maybe more research is needed?
