The emotional link of the Calem family to the Douro and its wines began with the foundation of their company in 1859.

Five generations later they continue to do so with the same concern for quality at a very reasonable price. José Maria Calém firmly believes that tradition is a trademark and their heritage.

This boutique winery is equipped with granite tanks for foot treading with some wines especially their old vine wines that are from vines exceeding 100 years of age. Some of the wines produced are aged in French oak barrels and after bottling they continue ageing for a minimum of 12 months before being released.
