← Oenologist - Helena Teixeira

Steeped in a rich history dating back to 1850, Quinta da Boeira bridges centuries of winemaking tradition with modern elegance. Nestled in the heart of Vila Nova de Gaia this esteemed estate spans three hectares of breathtaking centenary gardens and an iconic 19th-century palace. Long celebrated for its deep cultural roots and commitment to excellence, Boeira blends the art of Douro viticulture with striking presentation, famously housing its liquids in signature bespoke decanter and diamond-cut bottles.

At the helm of Quinta da Boeira's winemaking is Helena Teixeira, a visionary oenologist who has a deep-rooted commitment to sustainability. Embracing low-intervention and organic practices in the vineyards, Teixeira champions a philosophy of minimal interference that allows the true terroir of the Douro Valley to shine. By nurturing biodiversity, protecting natural soil health, and carefully managing the vinification process with minimal intervention, she ensures that every bottle authentically reflects the purity of the land alongside the estate's timeless elegance.

Quinta da Boeira's estate vineyards in Alijó, situated on the high-altitude plateau of the Cima Corgo, benefit from a cooler microclimate that sets them apart from the lower Douro. Mountain-chilled nights balance intense daytime sun, slowing the ripening process to preserve vital natural acidity and aromatic complexity. Planted in rugged schist soils, the vines yield grapes with striking structure, power, and refined elegance. The grapes are vinified in the Douro and aged in the century-old cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia,
