Since 1904, Montlaiz have been making wine with organic grapes that grow near the imposing Andes mountain range in the province of Mendoza, Argentina. They are a family winery with a strong social commitment to the people of the local villages, employees and economy of the region. Through Fair Trade certification systems, they help farmers and associated employees obtain decent and fair working conditions. Another fundamental pillar for the lovely people at Montlaiz, is caring for the environment. Measuring and mitigating their CO2 footprint, replacing their energy consumption matrix with photovoltaic generation systems, which they use to process 100% of the raw materials using solar energy.

Their vineyards are located in the province of Mendoza, with 74 hectares in production in the regions of Maipú, Junín and San Martín. In addition, they have formed an association of organic producers whom accompany them in the organic and Fair Trade certification processes; assisting other organic business’ technically and financially.

    MON1-R - Maipú, Mendoza - 100% Bonarda - 13%

    Winemaking Process: Harvest by hand in small bins during the second week of April. The grapes undergo a meticulous process starting with gentle crushing, followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks featuring daily pumpovers. This fermentation occurs at temperatures ranging between 24° and 27°C, with a total maceration period of 10 days. The wine is fermented using carefully selected organic yeasts, ensuring a thoughtful and sustainable winemaking approach.

    Winemaking Process: Harvested by hand during the second week of March in our own vineyards in the eastern area of Mendoza, this wine showcases a commitment to quality from the very beginning. The grapes undergo a gentle pressing, and the must is meticulously fermented in a combination of stainless steel tanks and concrete vats, employing daily pumpovers for optimal extraction of flavors and aromas. The fermentation process is facilitated by carefully selected organic yeasts, isolated from our own vineyards. This thoughtful approach ensures a harmonious and authentic representation of the Criollas grape. Fermentation takes place at temperatures between 24°C and 26°C, with a total maceration period of 10 days, contributing to the wine's depth and character.

    Winemaking Process: Harvested in March 2023 from the La Flor Vineyard in Maipú, Mendoza, this 100% Malbec wine embodies a meticulous winemaking process. The grapes are hand-harvested, ensuring the selection of only the finest fruit. Two days before the total grape collection, a Pie de Cuba is created using 200 kg of organic Malbec grapes and their indigenous yeasts, establishing a vibrant starter for fermentation. Once an optimal cell count is achieved, the remaining grapes are inoculated, initiating fermentation. This process involves periodic pumping over and an extended total maceration period of 15 days with the must, allowing for the extraction of rich flavors. Following this, the liquid is separated from the solids, and the juice is pressed. The wine is then bottled without filtering, preserving its authenticity. Notably, no sulphites are added during the winemaking process, showcasing a commitment to minimal intervention.

    Winemaking Process: Harvested manually in March 2022 from the La Flor Vineyard in Maipú, Mendoza, this unique blend features 80% Ugni Blanc and 20% Moscatel. The winemaking process begins with the careful destemming and crushing of both grape varieties together, creating a harmonious blend. Vatting with the skins and fermentation at a cool temperature of 15°-17°C follows, with daily pigeages to ensure optimal flavor extraction. The wine undergoes an extended conservation on the skins for 4 months, contributing to its distinctive character. The final product is bottled without filtering, presenting some cloudiness that adds to its authenticity.

    Winemaking Process: Harvested by hand in small bins during the third week of March from the region of Maipú, Mendoza, this Viognier wine is crafted with precision. After the harvest, the grapes undergo grinding and stem removal, followed by a cold maceration period lasting 4 hours. The fermentation process occurs at a controlled temperature of 15°-18°C in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then kept on fine lees until bottling, enhancing its depth and complexity. Notably, 20% of the blend is aged in French oak barrels for 4 months, contributing additional nuances to the final profile. The entire process is guided by the use of selected organic yeasts, ensuring a thoughtful and sustainable winemaking approach.
