On the hot plains of the Baixo Alentejo, just a few kilometres from the city of Beja, is one of the oldest wine estates in the region. Its vineyards represent decades of history that Henrique Uva has preserved & farmed for many years & which he always wanted to develop as an independent producer. In 2004, he achieved his dream, with the project that goes by the name of Henrique Uva/Herdade da Mingorra. The winery is surrounded by a landscape that that is abundant, with an amazing diversity of plants & fauna, with several river basins forming veritable oasis.

Built in the heart of Herdade da Mingorra, the 2,000m2 Winery only vinifies the estate’s own grapes & works with vinification processes at various levels. In total, more than two & a half million euros have been invested & the Winery has been designed to preserve traditional techniques in perfect harmony with the highest technology.

The estate covers a total of 1,400 hectares, with three properties: Herdade da Mingorra, Sociedade Agrícola do Barrinho & Herdade dos Pelados. As well as 135 hectares of vineyards, it has 210 hectares of irrigated olive groves, 200 hectares of intensively farmed almond groves, while the remainder is under traditional crops & woodland.

Tasting Notes: A pretty, elegant rosé wine with a bright colour, in the palate red fruit such as strawberries, shows with a medium to dry structure on the palate. Easy to drink by itself or with some spicy food. We adore the uplifting freshness & “by the beach” feeling when drinking this wine.

Food Pairing: Sushi, Vietnamese & fish ‘n’ chips are all good matches. It is also great with snacks such as biltong, jerky or edamame beans.

  • Mingorra Colheita White 2021

    MGR2-W - Alentejo - Antão Vaz & Verdelho - 12.5%

Tasting Notes: The warmth of Southern Alentejo & interesting complexity is combined with freshness & intensity in this well balanced white. Each varietal is very distinct with its aromas but they combine wonderfully to give the drinker a great experience of a young wine with the character of & an older vintage. Mingorra is a wine with presence, where notes of ripe peaches, melon & some mature white fruit are well combined. On the palate it has a silky mouthfeel with some white pepper & crispness on the long finish. Crunchy acidity & texture in your palate comes from both Antão Vaz & Verdelho. The batonnage gives the structure & elegance that the blend requires. Fabulous food friendly wine.

Food Pairing: Beautiful with seafood platters, white fish filets & monkfish curries as well as roast pork. A lovely vegetarian match with asparagus, chickpeas & egg dishes.

A layered wine with so much to unwrap. The more you drink the more you discover.
